gabby fluke-mogul Playlist

CMS has such a deep history! If you listen through our archives, it is absolutely amazing to hear so many amazing luminaries throughout time and space. My desire to join CMS was in hopes of bringing light to the history of creative music making that has taken place through CMS’s history and to hopefully connect these threads with younger generations in support of a more intergenerational present and future for CMS.  Since joining CMS, I’ve helped organize & facilitate workshops in NY (city and upstate) and in Oakland, California, events like The Celebration at Bearsville Theater, and revitalize CMS’s online presence through archival work and social media outreach. It is important to me that CMS is in touch with many communities of creative music making and that as an organization we’re thinking critically about the spaces we make, how we take up that space, and who is part of that creation! I believe in the power, politic, and poetic of improvised music.

Here is your first CMS playlist of absolutely amazing archival recordings for your listening pleasure! Given my unique proximity to the instrument and love of the violin, most of these tracks are strings forward. I promise you are in for a real treat— Leroy Jenkins,  Ladonna Smith, Ramsey Ameen, Carlos Zingaro Tom Cora.. Such deep history, continuum, and thread weave these tracks together. I hope you enjoy. Cheers!
